Research Project.

In my first post I have decided to write about my research project which I carried out over the summer holiday. For this I chose to use Kolb’s experimental learning cycle. (Kolb, 2005) as part of my HND study one of the unit was Research project which had two parts primary and secondary data.

When I got given the delivery to the research project, I panicked and didn’t think I was able to do it. I went over and over the brief to decide on a topic which most suits what I am interested in, so in the end I decided to do my project on terrorism with the question being; how has the terror attack in 2015 affected Tunisia’s tourism?

So I then went on to do a survey and questionnaire, which gave me the chance to carry out both verbal and non- verbal communication. a total of 73 people took my survey online at survey monkey and I carried out 6 face to face interviews. this gave me some confidence as speaking to people about something which may have affected them and having a strong view on I was a little nervous but I now feel like I can speak out to people. I completed all this in a certain frame time.

Throughout my project I successfully communicated with the participants in surveys and interviews for my primary research which revealed some interesting opinions and results, this required social skills, listening skills and respect of other people’s opinions to gather the relevant research, although I did not agree with all of the answers given from participants but I still listened to them and included them in the report findings. ICT skills were used and presented throughout the research such as creating charts, graphs etc…in the findings as well as using online surveys that not only had the content required but visually represented what the report was about.

One thing I would say to myself if I had the chance to do this all over again, I would definitely start sooner than what I did which would have given me more time to find more research with books and journals and not just websites. Also, would have given me the opportunity to gather more information which would have given more to talk about and more recommendations. However, I did manage to finish as I managed my time well which resulted in the completing all tasks on time.
